Commemoration of Jom Hasjoa 2024 (27 April 2025)
- Date: 27 April
- label.tijd 16:00
- Location: Kloosterkerk

On Sunday, April 27th, 2025, ahead of Yom Hashoah in Israel, The Hague Community of Churches gather in The Hague to remember the six million Jews who were murdered during the Second World War. The commemoration will take place at 4 p.m. in the Kloosterkerk, Lange Voorhout 4, with this year’s theme: “Treasuring Peace.”
The speaker for this year is Mrs. Kathleen Ferrier, former member of Parliament. Musical contributions will be offered by chazan Ken Gould and accompanying musicians. Following the service, flowers will be laid at the Jewish Children’s Monument on Rabbijn Maarsenplein. Students from the Christian Gymnasium Sorghvliet and other young people will also participate.
This year, we remember against the backdrop of a world in which peace often feels fragile. Global conflicts and humanitarian crises continue to bring pain and uncertainty to many. The decades-long conflict in the Middle East, along with recent devastating violence and suffering among both Israelis and Palestinians, reminds us of the deep need for compassion, justice, and dialogue. In these complex and painful times, we ask: How can we treasure peace — not only in memory, but in action?
As a working group, we believe that moments of remembrance like this offer a space for reflection, unity, and hope. We honor the past while looking to the future — committed to building understanding and standing together in our shared humanity.
The Hague Community of Churches warmly invites all residents of The Hague, of all backgrounds and beliefs, to attend this meaningful gathering. By coming together, we not only honour the memory of those who perished, but also affirm our commitment to peace, dignity, and freedom for all.
Admission is free and no registration is required.
