The society you want to defend

The world around us is restless: war, conflict, and instability. These rapid developments call for a stronger Netherlands. A Netherlands that invests in a resilient society to defend what we hold dear. Resilience does not only mean more tanks and drones. Resilience also means defending who we are together, our Dutch identity.
Now, more than ever, we must invest in the foundations of our free and democratic society: in what connects us, in what keeps us healthy, in what informs us. In culture, sports, news media, books, and events.
The Netherlands is the country of Anne Frank and the Avondetappe, of the local bookstore and the stadium filled with families. Of a festival where you can be yourself and a theatre that captures the spirit of the times. Where you are informed by breaking news on your phone as well as the newspaper on your doorstep.
This social infrastructure is the engine of our society. It is where people become who they can be. Children discover their talents, adults find new passions, and the elderly stay vital and engaged. It is where we strengthen our bodies, enrich our minds, and fill our hearts. It is where we grow as human beings, where we realize our potential.
We are a country that creates, thinks, reads, plays, and experiences. Not as a luxury, but as a way of living together. And that is exactly what we must protect.
The values that authoritarian regimes undermine – freedom of expression, a free press, solidarity, culture, self-expression, community spirit – are precisely the values we must cherish. Investing in social sectors is not a side issue. It is core policy for a resilient and strong Netherlands.
That is why we are organizing
Under the leadership of Frederique de Jong and with the presence of, among others, actress and presenter Victoria Koblenko, Kamran Ullah, editor-in-chief of De Telegraaf, Babs Gons, Poet Laureate of the Netherlands, Boris van der Ham, former politician and actor, and Malou Gorter, actress, we will host an inspiring breakfast session at Nieuwspoort. Here, the Social Allies from sports, culture, books, news media, and events will present their Social Agenda 2026–2030: a powerful action plan for the upcoming government term.
