HBX Kite of Transformation

  • Date: 12 June - 26 June
  • Location: Amare, Open Paviljoen West aan het Lange Voorhout, Alphabetum in West en Strand Scheveningen

Kites are the ultimate symbol of freedom

25 years ago, Rienke Enghardt began using kites in her global Hope Box (HBX) art actions. She developed the unique, elongated shape of the HBX kite based on the classic Rokkaku. HBX kites have been flown all over the world, from Gaza City to Havana and from Hanoi to Johannesburg, to reinforce the message of freedom and solidarity. This year, the NATO summit will take place in The Hague, and we want to show our solidarity with countries that are in conflict or at risk of conflict with the HBX Kite of Transformation. The HBX Kite of Transformation features a dialogue and collective drawings on the themes of peace and justice. In West, there will be an HBX Kite of Transformation meeting with the Ukrainian and Georgian communities, and during the Road to Summit festival, this kite will be on display in the West pavilion. The public can respond to it during the HBX Open Kite of Transformation, and another HBX kite will be on display at Amare. All HBX kites will be flown on the beach during the NATO summit.
