Our Darkest Hour: Ukraine’s War and Europe’s Fate
- Date: 11 December
- Time: 18:00 - 21:00
- Location: Universiteit Leiden, Campus Den Haag (zaal 2.02)
Why is Ukraine still at war—and what does this mean for Europe’s future?
ABBA Student Association, together with Agorá Student Union, is honoured to host acclaimed Ukrainian author Andrey Kurkov for an in-depth discussion at Leiden University’s The Hague Campus on 11 December 2025.
For more than a decade, the Russo-Ukrainian war has reshaped European security, identity, and political realities. Few voices capture this transformation as powerfully as Kurkov, who continues to live and write in Ukraine throughout the conflict.
During this event, he will share personal reflections on how the war affects Ukrainian society and its broader implications for Europe’s security, values, and long-term stability.
Kurkov is the author of over 20 novels and 10 children’s books, translated into more than 45 languages, and a contributor to international outlets such as The Guardian, Financial Times, New Statesman, and The Spectator.
