The program is free, but please order a ticket to secure a spot.

The fries stand opens at 6:30 PM! Arrive early to claim your free fries.

7:00 PM: Program starts.

Also coming up this evening:

March 4: Fries with speed dating with politicians in our theater and a workshop by ProDemos.

Engage in one-on-one conversations with local politicians and ask all your questions. Afterwards, you'll attend a short workshop by ProDemos.

The speed dates will take place with thirteen different political parties in our theater. They will be seated at round tables, where visitors can ask them anything they want in a series of short conversations. The workshop is led by ProDemos: discover how local politics works, how you can exert influence, and what the city council actually does!

More about Fries & Politics

What's the importance of voting? Why does your vote count? And how do we ensure that the city council also takes notice of what's happening in your neighborhood? In the run-up to the 2026 municipal elections, Theater & Filmhuis Dakota invites you to Fries & Politics: four fun and accessible evenings where you can engage in conversation with other residents and local politicians.

No complicated talks or long speeches, but real conversations about topics that affect you. Think of safety, discrimination, poverty, and the future of your neighborhood. We'll do this in a relaxed atmosphere in our café, with room for questions, discussion, and of course: free fries 🍟.

Whether you already know exactly what you think or are curious about what others think: join us and join in. We've already covered these topics:

February 11: Patatje Oorlog (Fries War)
How safe do you feel in your neighborhood? Together with young people from the Moerwijk Youth Council, we'll discuss this question with local politicians. We'll brainstorm possible solutions and the perspectives of the various parties.

February 18: Patatje Speciaal (Fries Special)
Everyone should be able to be themselves in their neighborhood, regardless of where they come from, who they are, or who they love. What are local politicians' perspectives on this topic? What solutions can we come up with together to make everyone feel welcome, and to work together to create more understanding and acceptance?

February 25: Patatje zonder (Fries Without) about poverty in the neighborhood
Making ends meet isn't a given for everyone. We'll discuss what poverty means in the neighborhood, how it affects daily life, what's needed to better support each other, and what politicians can do to address this. This program will take place at Café Dakota.
