When Iranian filmmaker Sepideh Farsi tries to travel to Gaza in 2024, she is denied entry. Her desire to document life under siege seems impossible — until she comes into contact with Fatma “Fatem” Hassona, a young photojournalist from Gaza City. Fatma becomes her eyes and voice on the ground.
Through video calls, an intense dialogue emerges about hope, fear, love and the power to keep dreaming in times of war. Fatma's photos and daily stories offer a rare human perspective on the inhuman. The two women stay in touch for more than 200 days, until Fatma and her family are killed in an Israeli air strike on 16 April 2025 — one day after the film was selected for the Cannes Film Festival.
Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk is an urgent documentary that interweaves raw reality with personal stories. A tribute to Fatma and to all the lives that disappear in silence.
