  • Time: 11:00 - 17:00
  • Location: Museum Sophiahof - Van Indië tot nu

The Indisch Herinneringscentrum presents Echo of the Struggle for Indonesia featuring the work of Suzanne Liem. The exhibition offers a unique insight into the personal stories of the children and grandchildren of key figures from the turbulent period following the end of World War II in the Dutch East Indies/Indonesia.

About the exhibition
For millions of Indonesians, countless Dutch, Indo-Europeans, Moluccans, Papuans, and Chinese, the years 1945–1950 were turbulent. This past continues to leave its mark to this day. In the exhibition Echo of the Struggle for Indonesia, documentary photographer Suzanne Liem guides visitors through the stories of the descendants of, among others, Hatta, Sjahrir, Beb Vuyk, General Spoor, and Van Mook. The exhibition focuses on fathers and daughters and is based on the book of the same name.

With Echo of the Struggle for Indonesia, Suzanne takes an important step in connecting the Netherlands and Indonesia by allowing both Dutch and Indonesian voices to be heard.
