Europe is increasingly setting the rules for the Netherlands. Whether it’s nitrogen, climate, migration, defense, or even our railway network, European agreements shape the framework for national policy. But which choices do parties in Brussels want to make, and what should be decided in The Hague?

In the run-up to the Dutch parliamentary elections on 29 October, (up-and-coming) Europe spokespersons will debate these questions at Nieuwspoort. Under the guidance of Sander van Vliet and the editors of Brusselse Nieuwe, they will clash over three major topics: defense, migration, and climate.

Before the debate, Mendeltje van Keulen will outline which Brussels dossiers are coming to the Netherlands soon—and how the country can achieve results in Europe.
