Theatre for Palestine: 681 days after the sleep strike

  • Date: 27 September
  • Time: 20:15 - 21:30
  • Location: Theater aan het Spui, Zaal 2

“On 16 November 2023, we held a sleep-in at Theater aan het Spui because we were kept awake by Gaza.

Now, 681 days later.

Despair is growing, apathy is lurking, but we are still awake, unfortunately.
A search for how to cope with the misery without being paralyzed.
A plea for a ceasefire on both micro and macro levels.
A call to keep making progress, even in tiny increments, without getting discouraged.”

In her own unique stand-up philosophy style, Laura attempts a reflection on two years of hardship: how to hold on to hope, how to stay angry… How much can you handle, and when do you overwhelm yourself?

In the theater, we create a space to express engagement, powerlessness, and (dis)hope.

Theatre for Palestine
In the last weekend of September, Theater aan het Spui is fully dedicated to Palestine. We give a platform to the voices and stories of Palestinian (and Dutch) theater makers, using theater as a space for solidarity, humanity, and hope.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated, in collaboration with the creators, to the Palestinian Arts and Culture Solidarity Collective.
