Our HERitage Symposium
What does resistance sound like when it begins in silence? And how does that silence later find a voice? During the symposium Female Resistance in Silence and Voice, we explore stories of Caribbean foremothers—women whose strength and choices left lasting marks on Dutch history.

The program includes lectures, panel discussions, poetry, and spoken word. Fausia S. Abdul opens with the lecture The Three Faces of Female Resistance, followed by the Our HERitage project, which highlights 50 historical portraits of Caribbean women. The program also features poetry in the old Gueni language, a panel discussion on judicial resistance, and interactive workshops with CBG researcher Martine Zoeteman. The symposium concludes with book discussions, spoken word, and a reception.

Moderator: Janice Deul

Participation is free, but registration is required.
