Janice Deul

Janice Deul (she/her) is an Afro-Dutch journalist, DIE professional and fashion and culture activist with more than 20 years of experience in the magazine world. Since 2011, she has been working for an inclusive and safe climate in the fashion, media and art sectors. She does this as a speaker, moderator, consultant, curator, through her platform Diversity Rules, and as a guest lecturer, among other things.

In 2023, she published Keti Koti, an accessible reference work on the commemoration and celebration of the abolition of slavery, in which she advocates July 1 as a national day of remembrance.

In June 2025, Morgen ben ik vrij. Stories of Slavery, a collection for youth, for which she wrote the story of resistance heroine Ma Pansa. June 10 will be followed by her book Kan ik nog thuis zijn in dit land, a pamphlet on Dutchness, identity and belonging.
