- Date: 29 April
- label.tijd 9:30 - 11:00
- Location: Bibliotheek Scheveningen

War, peace, freedom, and justice are major themes in many books, paintings, and music. What role can writers and artists play in creating a more peaceful world?
Famous writers such as Leo Tolstoy and Ernest Hemingway opposed war and violence. Artists such as Pablo Picasso also used their work as a means of expressing their horror. They told stories to shake people awake and warn them.
Other famous books were written in concentration camps or on the front lines.
Benjamin Duerr is a writer, lawyer, and political scientist who focuses on war and peace. His latest book, De Droom van Den Haag (The Dream of The Hague), about The Hague as a city of peace and justice, was shortlisted for the Libris History Prize.
