Homebound + Diwali-walk

  • Date: 18 October
  • Time: 16:00
  • Location: Filmhuis Den Haag

Filmhuis Den Haag and walker/connector Frank Kanhai are joining forces to strengthen culture and interaction in the city. Frank is known for his commitment to connecting residents and organizations through walks that lead to more contact and collaboration in The Hague.

In the context of Diwali, the festival of light and connection, we are presenting a special program on Saturday, October 18: a Diwali walk through the city, followed by a joint film screening at Filmhuis Den Haag.

This year, we are screening Homebound by director Neeraj Ghaywan—a compelling story about friendship, struggle, and hope, starring Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa. Two childhood friends from northern India dream of a future in the police force, but repeatedly encounter poverty, discrimination, and social barriers. Between them stands Sudha (Janhvi Kapoor), a woman inspired by Ambedkar's ideals, who sharpens their moral compass.

After a successful premiere in Cannes, awarded with a 9-minute standing ovation, and a prestigious Gala Presentation at TIFF in Toronto, Homebound is the festival gem of 2025. With Martin Scorsese as executive producer and Karan Johar as co-producer, the film manages to connect the Indian soul with international allure.
