Indigenous Freedom Day – Konkardi Sani 1686

On Saturday 10 January 2026, we will commemorate the Indigenous Peace Treaty. The theme of the day, Remembrance, Restoration and Recognition, focuses on raising awareness, restoring Indigenous rights, and acknowledging the valuable cultural heritage of Indigenous peoples.
The programme includes a ceremonial moment at the Transatlantic Slavery Monument, a symbolic procession, and an inspiring panel discussion with prominent speakers. In addition, we are organising a special children’s programme, engaging the younger generation through art and culture.
Programme overview
• Ceremony and Opening at the Transatlantic Slavery Monument (12:00 – 12:45)
• Panel discussion: Freedom, Heritage and Young Indigenous Leadership (14:30 – 15:30)
• Musical performances by Ricardo Sibello and Denise Jannah
• Film screening: Eternal Song (18:30 – 19:47)
• Educational children’s programme with art and cultural activities (13:30 – 17:00)
Prior to the film screening, there will be a shared meal with live music.
Admission
Participation in the daytime programme is free of charge with registration.
For the film screening (including the meal), a fee of €12.50 applies.
