About the evening

We would like to cordially invite you to a special KIVA film and speaker evening on Wednesday, June 10. Various organizations with a mission for Peace and the Earth have joined forces. They recognize the great importance of coming together—especially now—for a long-‘forgotten’ path to peace and balance. We live in a world of chaos, unrest, destruction, and division, in which the desire for a sustainable perspective is growing ever stronger: a hopeful perspective on restoring the balance with the earth and with each other. The documentary KIVA The Call of the Wisdom Keepers by Marijke Kodden and Jaap Verhoeven conveys the hopeful message of Indigenous Wisdom Keepers worldwide, who also come together for peace, equality, and reconnection with nature and with each other!

The documentary has been touring the country successfully for three years! After many sold-out evenings in major venues such as DeLaMar and Paradiso, and connecting co-creations with, among others, Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Fund—including a dialogue with HRH Princess Irene—this special co-creation evening will take place at the Omniversum on Wednesday, June 10.

1. We will start with inspiring music by Shishani (Namibia/Belgium).

2. This will be followed by a meditation—led by Bonnie Bessem and Irina Veelders—as a prelude to the film, to shift the focus from the daily hustle and bustle to the present moment, from the head to the heart.

3. We open ourselves to the message of the Wisdom Keepers in this KIVA documentary: the Original Peoples who still live according to the Original Principles, in balance with the Earth and with each other! With their ancient Wisdom, they can inspire us and remind us how we can restore the balance with the Earth and with each other! Two speakers will subsequently bring the message from the past to the present.

4. Annette Nobuntu Mul
Annette is, among other things, the founder of the Ubuntu Society. She teaches us the core message of Ubuntu: ‘I am because we are.’ And Desmond Tutu added to this: ‘We are here because the Earth is here.’ The Ubuntu philosophy emphasizes togetherness rather than egocentric thinking, and the fact that we must take good care of the earth, otherwise we – as humans – will soon no longer exist. The Earth will keep turning, but without us.

5. Carola Esparza (of Mapuche descent, Chile)
Carola Esparza is a ‘Wisdom Keeper of the Heart’, a true peacemaker and powerful communicator from the heart. She supports people in shifting communication from the head to the heart, so that we can understand each other better.

6. Jan van de Venis will host the evening and also share his story. Jan van de Venis is the Acting Ombudsman for Future Generations. As he says himself, he is a kind of watchdog for the rights of people yet to be born.

You are most welcome to this enriching and connecting evening full of wisdom and inspiration!
