Nest X QVDH: A flight through The Hague's queer history
- Date: 27 March
- Time: 15:00 - 17:00
- Location: Nest
Please note: this is a Dutch-speaking event!
As part of the exhibition Urning & Urningin - Language and Desire Since 1864, Nest, in collaboration with Oskar Oonk of Queer Stories, presents a city walk through The Hague's queer history.
Discover The Hague's queer past during this special edition of Queer Stories in The Hague. Our journey through history begins at Nest and takes us through four centuries of The Hague's queer history.
During the walk, you'll get to know the city in a new way, and the queer stories will come to life. You'll discover, among other things, how The Hague, as an administrative center, played a crucial role in queer activism and emancipation, and how men in the eighteenth century sought sexual contact in unexpected places throughout the city. The stories are anchored in the space of The Hague, but often extend far beyond the city and the country. Your stories also have a place in the walk: as a participant, you'll have the opportunity to share your own stories and experiences! Are you ready to rediscover The Hague? Then join us!
Oskar Oonk is a city guide, urban and architectural historian, and urban designer: in short, Oskar is fascinated by all things urban. Since 2024, Oskar has also organized special walks about The Hague's queer history. This has evolved into Queer Stories The Hague (https://www.queerverhalendenha...).
Tickets are available via the link at the top of the page. Would you like to visit the exhibition "Urning and Urningin. Language and Desire since 1864" before the city walk? Order a combination ticket and visit the exhibition independently at a reduced rate on Friday, March 27th.
