Orange the World - a World of Women
- Date: 25 November
- Time: 17:00
- Location: Theater De Vaillant
This event takes place in Dutch.
Women in our neighbourhoods are vulnerable, and possess immense inner strength and determination toward their communities.
On 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, De Vaillant will turn orange in support of Orange the World. Together with partners from the Schilderswijk and Transvaal, we have created a festival that opens dialogue, encourages conversation, and above all highlights the strength of women.
Stichting Sarita has been dedicated to supporting women in our city for more than thirty years and presents:
17:00 – Walk-in Dialogue: Strong Together during Orange the World
In a relaxed atmosphere, from the theatre café, we will engage in conversation about respect, safety, strength and connection.
During this walk-in dialogue, you can share your thoughts, listen to others, or write down something you would like to pass on to someone else.
The dialogue is facilitated by Fatima Bouddokar, a moderator committed wholeheartedly to people who find themselves in unwanted or vulnerable situations.
We use a creative and accessible method: The Flower of Strength, a symbol of growth, love and support.
Each flower tells its own story, and together they form a colourful wall of strength.
Together we show: No woman stands alone!
17:30 – Empowerment Dance Workshop by Dansacademie Natraj
In this empowerment dance workshop, Indian classical dancer Rajni Ghiraw takes you on a journey from pain to strength, from fear to freedom.
Through dance, breath, rhythm and expression, we return to the source of our feminine energy: the womb — the place where life, voice and power meet.
NO is a word. And it’s a powerful one.
“I believe that when women return to their bodies,
to their feminine wisdom,
a quiet revolution begins — a movement from within.”
— Rajni Ghiraw
A dance workshop about healing, boundaries, softness and the power of embodied femininity.
Stichting Avrasya, which works for the integration and empowerment of women and families in the Schilderswijk, presents:
17:00 & 20:20 – Live Piano by Julia Tavit
Julia is a pianist born in Istanbul, Türkiye, and currently based in Rotterdam. She has performed in renowned venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall, De Doelen and the Concertgebouw. Tonight, she will perform music by various female composers.
Stichting Yemeniyaat is a new initiative by and for Yemeni women in The Hague. The foundation aims to be a safe space where women can meet, support one another, and overcome language and cultural barriers. These ambitious Yemeni women come from various backgrounds — from mothers and students to newcomers in the city. Today they present:
17:30 – Orange the World Lecture
18:30 – Queen of Soul Yuli Minguel performs in The Hague
Contemporary Queen of Soul Yuli Minguel empowers women through her intimate and personal performance. Despite repeated setbacks in her dealings with youth care, the music industry, the tax authority and the police, she has always risen again through her music.
Yuli Minguel shows that whatever you go through, you can always come out stronger.
19:20 – Movies That Matter presents Kismet
What makes the Turkish soap opera so wildly popular among women in the Arab world? Kismet uncovers the secrets behind the huge success of these series, which break taboos while maintaining a loyal audience among devout Christians and Muslims.
