Pride The Hague: Petite Fille + nagesprek
- Date: 12 May
- Time: 19:30 - 21:30
- Location: Theater en filmhuis Dakota
This film screening is part of Pride The Hague (May 8-16), a week in which communities from The Hague come together to create space for LGBTQIA+ stories, visibility, and connection. With a program full of culture, encounters, and conversation, Pride is all about being yourself and learning to understand one another better. At Dakota, we are also happy to contribute to this with two films that invite reflection and discussion.
During Pride The Hague, alongside Petit Fille (2020), The Blue Caftan (2023) will also be screened, a moving story about love and hidden identity.
About the film
7-year-old Sasha has always known she was a girl, even though she was born in a boy's body. The community refuses to treat her like other children her age, at school, in dance class, or at birthday parties. Her family supports her and fights alongside her to have her difference explained and accepted. Spoken in French with Dutch subtitles.
Post-screening discussion
After the screening, there will be a discussion with Levi (he/her and he/him) and Sam van den Berg (she/her).
In addition to being a resident of Escamp, Levi is also a gender diversity coordinator and educator at COC Haaglanden, where he is committed to providing good support for volunteers and peer support for transgender people and their loved ones. Levi is also active as a volunteer at Stichting Queer Mind.
Sam is the chair of Transvisie and is involved in, among other things, the theme of youth care (gender care for children/youth). Transvisie is a patient advocacy organization that advocates for all people with questions regarding their gender identity, as well as for their families, loved ones, and relevant social circle.
