'Women's Rights Without Borders' - conversations about strong leadership, with live music
- Date: 04 March
- Time: 19:15 - 20:30
- Location: Centrale Bibliotheek Den Haag
In the context of The Hague Women's Days, the Residentie Orchestra and the Central Library cordially invite you to a special evening full of meaningful conversations, interspersed with moving live music.
Feminist journalist Renate van der Zee will speak with Azadeh Maghsoodi and Mekka Abdelgabar, two powerful women who each carry out their own mission. They will share their experiences regarding the position of women in areas where violence dominates daily life and where women are often still viewed as second-class citizens.
Azadeh Maghsoodi is a German-Iranian violinist who plays in the Residentie Orchestra. She is also a political activist for Iranian women, particularly for the revolutionary feminist movement "Jin Jiyan Azadi" (Freedom of Women's Lives). Through her Instagram account, she draws attention to the situation in Iran and attends demonstrations and charity events. Azadeh will perform two short solo violin pieces, including an improvisation on an Iranian song.
Mekka Abdelgabar, Drs., is the founder of the Netherlands-Darfur Women's Organization Foundation (VOND) and, as a consultant and entrepreneur, uses her expertise in the field of Women, Peace, and Security (WPS). VOND supports female leaders and young people in Darfur, hoping to contribute to achieving peace for the people of Darfur.
Female Leadership in All Its Forms
This evening will highlight how vulnerable rights can be if they are not actively protected, and how crucial courageous voices are to initiate change. Abdelgabar and Maghsoodi are passionately committed to female leadership in all its forms and demonstrate the significant impact a few determined individuals can have.
Be inspired, enriched, and connected, and discover how female leadership makes a difference!
